Sustainability

Our Sustainability Mission

For over 55 years, sustainability has been at the heart of everything we do. From responsibly sourcing materials to producing environmentally conscious marketing solutions, our mission is to create a lasting positive impact while helping our customers achieve their own sustainability goals. Our approach transcends the traditional “reduce, reuse, recycle” model, combining environmental stewardship with operational excellence to build a safer, more innovative, and efficient workplace. Together, we are leading the way to a better future.

Responsible Sourcing

Sustainable practices begin with the materials we choose. Paper is a vital component of our business, and we take a lifecycle approach to its procurement. Our processes address biodiversity, climate impact, and waste management, ensuring minimal environmental disruption while meeting quality and economic standards.

We prioritize responsibly sourced materials, including recycled fibers from post-consumer waste and are proud to hold Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Chain-of-Custody certification. Our partnerships with suppliers emphasize biodiversity protection and sustainable forestry, reflecting our commitment to ethical sourcing. Additionally, we are fully compliant with DMA Green 15 requirements, ensuring our practices align with the highest industry sustainability standards.

We are committed to not sourcing products identified as coming from controversial sources. This includes illegal timber, areas where indigenous or local community rights have been violated, genetically modified organisms, areas of armed conflict, and forests known or suspected to contain High Conservation Value (HCV) areas.

We are Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) Chain-of-Custody certified by Preferred by Nature.

Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is central to our operations and facility management. We have invested in new, advanced equipment that offers greater energy efficiency, ensuring exceptional quality for our clients while achieving significant reductions in waste and spoilage.

Facility upgrades are designed with energy conservation in mind, incorporating modern insulation, efficient lighting, and advanced mechanical systems. These measures reduce our carbon footprint and contribute to a more sustainable manufacturing process, aligning with both company and customer goals for efficiency and innovation.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycling

Recycling is an integral part of our sustainability strategy. Over the last five years, we have recycled more than 66,000 tons of paper waste from our processes. IWCO recycles all paper waste, waste from plastic card production, used lithographic printing plates, metals, bulbs, and electronics, demonstrating our commitment to comprehensive waste management. Our recycling initiatives extend to packaging materials, including skids and trays, to further reduce our environmental impact.

By implementing solutions like address hygiene, we further reduce waste by ensuring that every mail piece reaches its intended recipient, minimizing undeliverable mail, and preventing unnecessary environmental impact.

We set aggressive standards to collect and recycle in-process waste, continuously monitoring waste and spoilage metrics to identify areas for improvement. These efforts drive greater efficiency and sustainability across all manufacturing platforms.

Emissions

As a responsible manufacturer, we focus on lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, equipment innovation, and sustainability, which have collectively led to significant reductions in emissions. We also track Scope 1 and Scope 2 carbon emissions from our processes and disclose these annually through the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP). The CDP aims to empower businesses to measure and manage their environmental impacts while promoting transparency and accountability in addressing climate change. Our commitment to efficiency and innovation ensures we minimize our environmental footprint while delivering exceptional results for our clients.

52%

decrease in carbon emissions within the last 5 years.

This reduction in carbon emissions is equivalent to the greenhouse gas emissions avoided by recycling 1,383,088 trash bags instead of sent to the landfill. This reduction in carbon emissions is equivalent to the carbon sequestered from 16,329 acres of US forests in one year. Our logistics operations also support our emission reduction goals. Through our participation in the SmartWay® Transport Partnership, we optimize freight consolidation and reduce fuel consumption, ensuring a more sustainable supply chain.

Ongoing Sustainability Journey

Sustainability is an ongoing commitment, and we continually seek innovative ways to lessen our environmental impact. Our comprehensive environmental health and safety processes demonstrate our dedication to conservation and preservation, benefiting employees, clients, and the communities we serve. We believe in fostering a culture of care, supporting local initiatives, and partnering with organizations that share our vision for a sustainable future.

By aligning with measurable sustainability goals, including those tied to carbon emissions, waste reduction, and responsible sourcing, we ensure transparency and accountability in every step of our journey.
