The Challenge

The multiple creative financial marketing mailing packages used by the credit card issuer across multiple lines of business were not achieving economies of scale in the production environment. IWCO Direct identified an opportunity to leverage design efficiencies and streamline production strategies to drive more cost-effective production.

Applying Our Capabilities

To reduce production complexity, cost, and cycle time, IWCO Direct implemented specification standards across multiple separate programs, each with their own program managers. Tightly defined templates were established and grouped into “families” by common attributes, including component size, number of components, printing method, and paper stock. Templates were also created to reduce production complexity and to remove unintentional variations that existed, such as window sizing. This allowed marketers to focus on the offer rather than format specifications.

The Results

The specification standards and templates IWCO Direct put into place resulted in cost savings of more than $1.25 million. Cycle time was also reduced by five days, due to increased efficiency and throughput in the production environment.
