In my recent blog, I set a goal to make IWCO Direct a better, safer place to work every day. As we pursue our Strategic Priorities, we are increasing our efforts to provide a workplace where our employees can thrive. Here are some highlights of recent achievements and ways we’re bringing employees together:
The HR Team is Making Strides
We have established a Talent Acquisition (TA) team whose sole focus is to bring talented, highly capable individuals on board. Their jobs are made a little easier when they can share the details of the fantastic benefits package we offer. Our comprehensive benefits plan provides employees (and their families) with programs to help them build a financial foundation for risk management (health, life, disability) and long-term retirement savings, which includes a 401k plan company match and financial planning resources. We also offer hybrid and remote options for qualifying positions, so employees can choose the most productive work environment. Best of all, the company is investing in our benefits programs to keep costs lower for our employees.
Engagement Committee Encourages People to Get Involved
Our Engagement Committee consists of four teams: Charitable Giving, Recognition, Wellness, and Events. These teams provide opportunities for our colleagues to pursue their interests at work and at home. Last month, our Charitable Giving team supported Hamburg’s Got Talent, a local talent show whose proceeds went to revitalizing, promoting, and preserving downtown historic Hamburg, PA. In remembrance of 9/11, we donated to USA Cares, an organization that assists post-9/11 Veterans and their families. Each month, our Recognition team presents Spotlight awards to those who have been recognized by their coworkers for taking the initiative to go above and beyond. We also offer other recognition opportunities for projects, teamwork, and length of service at IWCO Direct. Our Wellness team runs quarterly challenges to bring employees (and their families) together to improve their physical, mental, and financial wellbeing, like our most recent Active Outside challenge and quarterly financial planning seminars. Last but not least, the Events team is creating a calendar of fun activities for 2023 that will tie all the engagement efforts together.
Bringing Our Employees Together Again
Due to the restrictions brought on by COVID-19, it has been a while since we have been able to gather with our colleagues within our facilities. That’s why we were so excited to hold a Better Together event on each of our campuses in October, where we treated everyone to a meal or ice cream novelty, a choice between a company baseball cap or beanie, and entry into raffles to win gift cards and a grand prize of a smart TV. We had a fantastic turnout! Our colleagues can expect more events like this in the future.

It may sound cliché, but it is true: we are better together. We are fortunate to have a talented team of diverse employees who bring their best to IWCO Direct.
