During my more than 30 years in the print industry, I have seen direct mail as a media form constantly evolve and change. You must adapt and grow with the advances in technology, or be left out in the cold (and I am not just saying that as a resident of Minnesota.) As a board member of the Association for Print Technology (APTech), and VP of Operations at IWCO Direct, I feel it is important to share information on the new technology, latest trends, and events in the print industry with our valued clients. That is why I am excited to spread the word about Amplify, the print finishing and embellishing event that will be held in IWCO Direct’s backyard at the Minneapolis Convention Center, June 14-16.

Looking Toward the Future of the Print Industry

Amplify is an enriching experience presented by APTech and the Foil and Specialty Effects Association (FSEA). This live show showcases the brands, cutting-edge products, and processes for: foil and coating, die cutting, folding and gluing, binding, and direct mail, that will propel companies to the forefront of the print and embellishing industry. You can watch equipment demonstrations in the Technology Zone and see the machinery, components, and supplies that will make your printed products stand out. You will also be inspired by metallic effects, coatings, binding techniques, and creative mailing options. There are also numerous opportunities to network with colleagues as you stroll through the Amplify exhibit hall, and attend seminars led by industry experts.

From Creation to Production, Amplify Offers Something for Everyone

This show offers something for everyone involved in the print and finishing cycle from creatives, brand marketers and direct mail service providers to digital and offset printers. There will be much to see, do, and learn. Some of the lecture topics you may find especially interesting are:

  • Direct mail and how it is surviving and thriving,
  • UV coating trends and technologies,
  • Value-added sales for print,
  • Bindery efficiency—digital and traditional processes, and
  • Workflow and automation.

Plus, Amplify features a 3-hour summit that will examine the issues around sustainability in the print and packaging industry, with an emphasis on recycling products with special finishing applications.

A Special Focus on Direct Mail

You won’t want to miss the Mailing Pavilion at Amplify. This is a great opportunity to learn about finishing trends in envelopes and other direct mail applications. As part of the direct mail track, the FSEA will be discussing its white paper: Transforming Direct Mail with Print Embellishments. Additionally, the Envelope Manufacturers Association (EMA) will be present, along with representatives from the envelope technology and supply segments, on how high-quality envelopes can make your mailpieces stand out in your recipients’ mailboxes and get opened.

Sharing information about special events that enlighten our clients is just one way IWCO Direct adds value for clients. We’re also investing in the future of print by bringing new HP PageWide digital presses to our facilities. Converting to an all-digital platform will accelerate the speed from data to delivery and increase the options for variability and personalization, while optimizing postage savings.
