2020 Brings Clear Vision at DRJ Spring World

Michael Henry

Punxsutawney Phil, the most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania, has made his annual appearance. When Phil came out of his burrow, he did not see his shadow and affirmed that spring is on the way… thanks, Phil!

For Mail-Gard, spring also means planning for the 2020 conference season, starting with the DRJ Spring World conference in Orlando, Florida, March 15-18. The Disaster Recovery Journal (DRJ) presents conferences twice a year, which provide a wealth of resources for attendees and exhibitors in the BC/DR arena. Mail-Gard chooses to attend these conferences every year for the many benefits to be gained there.

Getting “A Clear Vision” at DRJ Spring World

This spring’s theme is “A Clear Vision of Risk and Resiliency,” a very timely reminder in this new decade that our BC/DR vision needs to be 20/20 to achieve success. According to DRJ, “when it comes to business continuity, what worked a year ago will not be effective today,” and the news seems to support that concern. We see daily reports on extreme weather resulting from climate change, as well as emerging viruses and other health scares, and those reports make it clear that our collective work in the BC/DR industry has never been more necessary.

The DRJ conferences offer a wealth of sessions across all aspects of the BC/DR field, from tools for the individual, like managing stress and staying positive in a stressful industry, to up-to-the-minutes issues that can affect your business regardless of industry, like pandemics. I don’t doubt that one of the hot topics of conversation at this show will be the coronavirus, which is currently spreading around the world. It’s a scary subject to consider and one that affects us all on a global level. It also offers the opportunity to learn from others with the same concerns and improve our own BC/DR plans using real-time scenarios.

Staying Current with Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery Plans

One of the greatest benefits Mail-Gard gains from attending the DRJ conferences is the opportunity to catch up with many clients, as well as meet other attendees and hear about their concerns—where they are with their BC/DR plan, what’s working, what needs some tweaking, and how we can help. It’s really encouraging to know that so many of our current clients are keeping up with the latest business continuity developments. Their progress only enhances our own efforts in support of all our clients’ recovery needs.

If you’ve never attended a DRJ conference, I encourage you to check out their program brochure here and consider attending—there’s still time to register at a discounted rate. The Mail-Gard team will be exhibiting in booth #400, so please stop by for a visit if you’re attending the conference. We welcome the opportunity to talk with you about how Mail-Gard can help bring your vision of a successful recovery plan into clear focus.

Hope to see you there and enjoy the coming spring season!
