Recent Awards Reflect Our Commitment to Safety & Creativity

Jim Andersen

While it’s true that we value extremely satisfied clients over awards at IWCO Direct, it’s always an honor when others recognize the hard work we put into our craft. That’s why I’m proud of today’s announcement that IWCO Direct has been honored with awards for safety and creativity.

IWCO Direct Awards for Safety from EMA and MN Safety Council

The 2019 EMA Industry Safety Leader Award given to IWCO Direct.

As you hopefully know, we put a tremendous amount of time and energy into improving our efficiency through Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing initiatives. While our focus is on enhancing productivity, reducing cycle times, and being as efficient for our clients as possible, this never comes at the expense of our employees’ well-being and safety on the job. Our 2018 Industry Safety Leader Award from the EMA and the Meritorious Achievement Award we’ll receive next week from the Minnesota Safety Council are testaments to that.

Our safety teams do a tremendous job keeping safety at the forefront of everyone’s minds. This includes sharing safety tips during staff meetings, posting safety reminders on equipment and throughout our facilities, and having a column on safety in every edition of our employee newsletter. But our most effective tactic is setting an expectation that everyone at IWCO Direct is responsible for keeping themselves and their colleagues safe.

Laura Karels Receives the Creative Professional of the Year Award from Printing Industry Midwest

Mike Dietz and Laura Karels – IWCO Direct

Executive Creative Director Mike Dietz and Senior Designer Laura Karels with her Creative Professional of the Year Award from Printing Industry Midwest.

Last Thursday, a team from IWCO Direct was thrilled and honored to give Laura Karels a well-deserved round of applause as she received the first ever Creative Professional of the Year Award at the Printing Industry Midwest’s annual Star Awards banquet.

As our announcement notes, along with her creativity, Laura was evaluated on her ability to interpret customer instructions to effectively meet their needs and engage staff to ensure an efficient production process. Laura also received numerous testimonials from leadership, clients, and colleagues.

Anyone who has met Laura knows she is extremely creative, but what people are most impressed by is her positive attitude and willingness to help others. In fact, when we asked one of our clients if they would be willing to provide a testimonial for her nomination, they said they would have been upset if they weren’t given the opportunity to share how much they enjoy working with her and how much value her designs bring to their direct marketing campaigns. Knowing Laura, sentiments like that from her clients and co-workers mean as much to her as any award—if not more. We’re very happy she’s on our team.

Our commitment to safety and our ability to provide a creative spark for our clients are crucial elements to IWCO Direct’s success. Thank you to all of our employees who come to work focused on making us a bit better each day.
