How Mail-Gard Picked Belfor As Its Own Disaster Recovery Provider

Michael Henry

“The shoemaker’s children go barefoot” is a popular expression that’s commonly used in business to describe a company that doesn’t take advantage of its own expertise. The Mail-Gard division of IWCO Direct knows a thing or two about disaster recovery. That’s why, when IWCO Direct made the decision to contract an integrated disaster recovery and property restoration provider for preventive protection at each of our campus locations in Pennsylvania and Minnesota, they tapped the Mail-Gard team to find the right service provider. We knew that finding a single-source company for disaster recovery and property restoration services was a critical need to be met. Our choice was Belfor Property Restoration.

It’s important for any organization, including IWCO Direct and Mail-Gard, to plan and be prepared for any unforeseen events resulting from either a man-made or natural disaster. When seeking a property restoration service provider, we looked for a company with a proven track record. We know that having a plan in place to protect our customers’ deadlines and deliveries is vital to our business. If something were to happen at any of our locations, we would also need to be operational as quickly as possible.

We needed the right service provider for dealing with issues including water damage repair, fire restoration services, smoke damage cleanup, mold removal services, duct cleaning services, damage restoration, electronic restoration services, industrial machinery restoration, and vital document restoration.

One of the things that impressed us most about Belfor was their commitment to health and safety. Like IWCO Direct, Belfor demonstrated they have no higher priority than the safe execution of their operations. As we went through our due diligence of finding the right partner for IWCO Direct, we learned a lot about different services and providers in the industry. We wanted a blanket of protection for our facilities so that both our customers and employees feel secure. That security comes from knowing that in the event of a disaster, our operations will be minimally impacted – and Belfor fit the bill in all of those aspects.

To help expedite emergency response at all of our locations between PA and MN, IWCO Direct teamed with Belfor to conduct external as well as internal mapping of each facility. Belfor trucks can be loaded with the proper materials and gear and directed to an IWCO Direct site with a recovery team that can be operational within an hour. All IWCO Direct facilities are now site-protected through Belfor, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

I’m pleased to report that as winter arrives in Minnesota and Pennsylvania, we have an actionable plan in place in the event we need disaster recovery and/or property restoration services. In other words, this shoemaker’s children now have warm socks and shoes.
