Our Continuous Improvement Program Looks to Enhance Cross-Platform Standardization

Patrick Sondreal

As part of our Continuous Improvement program, IWCO Direct’s Continuous Improvement and Quality teams have prioritized standardizing practices across our platform. This includes standardizing quality assurance routines and processes, reporting metrics and more. By focusing on having standard practices, we will deliver consistency for our clients.

One of the benefits of working with IWCO Direct is our flexibility to manufacture products with a wide variety of technologies at multiple locations across our platform. However, this flexibility also presents the challenge of maintaining consistency throughout our processes.

Since a single product could potentially be produced in multiple facilities, a crucial part of our Continuous Improvement program is to make sure that jobs are set up the same way, follow the same processes, undergo the same quality checks and maintain the same workflows across the board so our clients will not have to manage multiple processes and will receive the same consistent product. Standardizing ensures everyone involved in production is handling projects in the same manner for a consistent, high-quality customer experience, regardless of the location, machine or operator.

This benefits us as well, as we are able to better leverage our platform by implementing best practices, incorporating them into company standards and evolving from those efficiencies. For example, the efficient and effective way that our Little Falls facility was organizing and logging quality control pulls was implemented at our Hamburg location with great success. Information sharing is allowing us to implement better practices across the platform and reduce the risk of error. As a result, our Continuous Improvement and Quality teams have helped define employee responsibilities, workflows, document processes, hand-offs and other elements throughout our production processes.

Platform standardization is a win-win for our clients and for us: it helps us meet our clients’ expectations and gives us the confidence that we are giving every campaign the same level of due diligence and doing it in a consistent manner.
