2016 will be an exciting year for Mail-Gard as we celebrate our 20th Anniversary. But before we look ahead, we wanted to spend a moment reviewing 2015, which was another strong year for Mail-Gard.
We were fortunate to not have any formal disaster declarations in 2015. However, we had a few close calls with weather-related issues and possible work stoppages. Our customers know putting us on “alert” to a possible impending event is a smart preparation tool should an actual business disruption occur.
As our recovery business continued its growth, we saw an increase in the operational recovery services provided to our customers. Being able to assist them with peak production loads, as our testing schedule permits, is one of the benefits of our recovery solution, along with providing real-time recovery process reviews.
2015 was also highlighted by the completion of two Continuous Improvement Kaizen events, one in the print area and the other for our insert production. This is an area of focus we will continue to expand as we move into 2016.
New trends also emerged in 2015, such as use of the Cloud and the addition of social media requirements as part of business continuity plans. While these may not specifically apply to the print-to-mail recovery segment, the increase in business disruption events is alarming and companies are taking note. Recovery plans no longer collect dust on bookshelves, but are utilized, reviewed and updated on a constant basis. It’s no longer just about the 100-year flood or isolated weather event that may happen. It’s planning for the small, man-made act that will wreak havoc on your day-to-day business.
As we celebrate our 20th Anniversary in 2016, we will continue our focus to maintain our leadership in the business continuity and disaster recovery industry. We will also continue to grow, adapt and expand our service offerings to best meet our customers’ needs. This includes updating our cut sheet printing environment by installing the latest technologies. We will continue to evaluate our staffing needs as the year progresses and our focus on Continuous Improvement initiatives will remain constant throughout the year.
On the sales and marketing front, you can expect a few anniversary celebrations at our disaster recovery and continuity events. We also have been honored to be chosen to present at this year’s National Postal Forum. Stay tuned for more details on our anniversary plans and progress at Mail-Gard in 2016.
