A Special Thanks To Our Veterans
We have officially entered the holiday season! Halloween has come and gone, Thanksgiving is right around the corner and before you know it the December holidays will be here. But one holiday that falls this time of year is often overlooked: Veterans Day. Veterans Day is an especially important day to me because I am a proud veteran of the United States Navy.
I spent eight years in the Navy as a nuclear engineer with three years aboard the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower before being honorably discharged and transitioning to civilian life. I have had an opportunity to work in several industries, but now I am working in the direct marketing industry utilizing the leadership skills from my days in the Navy. As you’ll hear most veterans say, the Navy equipped me with the discipline and work ethic needed to do any job or reach any goal. No matter which branch of the military or what station, those in the armed forces know the true meaning of teamwork, perseverance, grace under pressure and respect, and these attributes have served me well both personally and professionally.
Recently, iHeartRadio and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce have been promoting the hiring of ex-military with their Show Your Stripes and Hiring Our Heroes campaign. I would urge those who are looking for skilled, capable employees to look no further than those who have served our country. I can personally attest that there are no men or women better trained to handle any job with dignity and honor.
Thank you to those who have put their lives on the line to protect our country and those who are currently serving. If you are a veteran looking for work, I urge you to look on our jobs page and see the career options available; we’d be proud to have you.
