It’s been a busy summer at Mail-Gard here in Warminster, PA. In addition to recovery testing and assisting our customers with some of their overflow, we’ve held some events that have enhanced both our sales and operations teams.
We started the summer off with a sales and operations summit that brought the teams together to share recent successes and the challenges facing the recovery business. Thoughts and ideas were exchanged on how to best provide our customers with the right recovery plan, one that will work for them if and when they should ever need it. The sales team toured the updated production floor and reviewed equipment upgrades that they can now offer customers and prospects.
Expansion Now Complete
Speaking of our production floor, the expansion that started earlier this year is finally complete. Our newly expanded 100,000 square feet of production space has a streamlined workflow with all printing in one area and inserting now in the newly re-opened area of our facility. Two new Pitney-Bowes APS 14 station inserters are up and running, and two Océ VarioStream 8750 laser printers were installed on the print floor. An upgrade to Version 5 of our Prisma server was also completed. Maintenance cost reductions and an easier workflow make this Prisma upgrade a welcomed addition to our technical platform.
Mail-Gard Goes Lean
Finally, Mail-Gard completed its first Kaizen event focused on establishing a foundation in Lean manufacturing by applying 5S principles to the print area. With the completion of our expanded print floor, it was a perfect time to implement these key continuous improvement strategies. Warminster print team members met to clean and organize the production area and created several standard operating procedures designed to streamline responsibilities and create a more efficient workflow. This Kaizen event was the first of many, and we look forward to completing the same processes and procedures for the inserting area in the coming months.
The only constant is change, and here at Mail-Gard we strive to stay current with industry trends and our customers’ technical requirements. Our newly expanded facility offers a streamlined print-to-mail workflow and our equipment additions provide even more production capacity. We continue to look for ways to grow and expand our business. As our sales team works to build critical communications recovery solutions for more customers, our operations team is ready with a solid foundation of equipment and processes to support these customers when they need us.
