Millions of people tuned in to watch the Oscars on Sunday night, anticipating who would receive the industry’s highest honors in filmmaking. While not quite as glamorous as that event, each year we recognize our President’s Award Recipients, who are nominated by their fellow employees in categories such as Team Player, Service Excellence, Quality, Personal Commitment, Making a Difference, Corporate Initiatives, Rookie of the Year, Team Award, Distinguished Performance Award and Distinguished Service Award. A total of 404 nominations were received this year, which demonstrates the commitment to teamwork at IWCO Direct and makes for a grueling judging process to separate the very good from the great.
Today we wanted to give our President’s Award recipients a moment in the spotlight. If you’re a client, these are the people who go above-and-beyond to make your campaigns run smoothly. If you’re a prospective employee (more on that toward the end of this article), these are the people to emulate.
So without further delay, here are this year’s President’s Award recipients:
Distinguished Service Award Recipient
Mike Cerant (Digital Color Supervisor, Chanhassen): Keeps the Digital Color department ahead of the curve, including developing new processes to improve quality and output of the Color Digital department by 20-30%.
Distinguished Performance Award Recipients
Becky Bader (Systems Architect, Warminster): Generates information reports that are very beneficial to both internal operations and clients, ensuring our business systems run smoothly and collect the correct data.
Bonnie Miller (Machine Operator 2, Hamburg): Is committed to doing her best every day and sets an example for new team members. She is able to run every type of equipment on the lettershop floor while maintaining the team’s efficiency and quality standards.
Jim Nordstrom (Software Engineer III, Chanhassen): Uses knowledge gained from his time spent on other teams to help bridge gaps and design top-notch solutions. He is a pioneer in introducing service-oriented architecture into new areas of the company.
Chuck Stoeckel (Systems Administrator, Little Falls): Known for his customer service, technical support and ability to implement sound solutions. He is a consistent source of information and is very supportive of his peers, making the team more efficient.
In addition to our President’s Awards, each year at our National Sales Meeting we present awards for outstanding performance in sales and customer experience. This year, we added a new category for operational leaders who partnered with sales to help us grow our business. These recipients were:
Sales Award Recipients
Bob McAndrews (Sales Executive): Achieved 157% of budget in 2014 as his book of business increased. He was a leader in introducing the advantages of Marketing Services to his clients.
Paul DePaoli (Sales Executive, Mail-Gard): A true team player who is able to maintain focus on his individual goals. His customer-focused sales strategy has earned him the respect of his prospects, customers and the entire Mail-Gard staff.
Jennifer Bender (Account Executive): Manages and leads all aspects of tactical engagement with one of our largest accounts while contributing to our strategic engagement with them. She is responsible for all phases of project management and on-going initiatives.
Ann Marie Henne (Account Executive): An Account Executive who manages two of our top ten customers. She has been described as the “glue” that keeps our position strong with these clients, always demonstrating a “can do” attitude.
Sales Operations Partner Award Recipients
Frank Boncore (Director of Operations, Hamburg): Instrumental in helping Hamburg achieve record production. He oversaw the installation of the second 3900 ColorStream in Hamburg along with additional CMC and Read/Write capacity.
Doug Brustad (Director of Print Operations, Chanhassen): Oversaw numerous capital projects including the Inveloper installation, envelope converter upgrades and a UV lighting upgrade for sheetfed press. He led enhancement of our flexo printing quality to rival offset.
Michael Henry (VP Operations): Expanded our ability to handle more overflow from Mail-Gard customers and specialty production from direct mail clients. He is now leading an expansion of our Warminster operations.
Finally, as I mentioned at the top of this post, we are currently looking to fill a number of roles. Successful employees at IWCO Direct have solid communication skills, initiative and creative thinking. They need to be flexible team players with the ability to shift gears when priorities change. Whatever their tasks may be, they are focused on our customers and have continuous improvement mindsets. In short, they should embody the values and work ethic of the people above. Congratulations to this year’s recipients!
