Earlier this month I attended the Canon Customer Steering Team meeting in Charleston, SC. IWCO Direct was chosen last November to be one of eight industry representatives to help advise and create an industry users group for Canon’s production digital printing platform.
As the industry leader in production digital printing, Canon believes that a key to future innovation and success is facilitating a user community that fosters education, best practices and new ideas.
However, rather than just launching a user group based on their own ideas, Canon invested time, money and energy into a series of meetings with the Steering Team. This was done to ensure the meeting format, as well as the information tracks, would create user interest and meet their needs. Currently under consideration are three primary tracks as follows: Technical, Sales/Marketing and Leadership.
As a participant on the Steering Team and other Canon advisory councils, it is refreshing to work with a partner that is willing to sit down with its customers and ask, “What can we do to help?” Our Steering Team is a diverse and passionate group. The collaboration and discussion of how to make this User Group special and different has been intense but exciting.
While final details are still being worked out, the plan is to have a kick-off event and launch a user community in 2015. We will share updates on the Customer Steering Team and user community in future blogs, so please stay tuned for more details.
