Three Things to Know Before Going Full-Color with Your Print Recovery Plan

Jerry Montella

As the critical document industry evolves, the move to full-color digital printing is increasingly becoming a requirement for today’s print and mail recovery plans. We are talking to more and more customers and prospects about their transfer to full-color and, to be honest, a full-color recovery plan is more challenging than most companies anticipate. If your company is developing a full-color strategy, there are several items to consider before making the move:

  1. The extreme customization of the print software, hardware and processes is unique to every customer. Replication of the environment will also need to be specialized. Timeline for recovery implementation and associated costs will be affected.
  2. If your vendor is using a system different than yours, compatibility between print hardware will create the need for re-scripting of the data environment in order to produce your applications in the recovery environment. Again, timeline for implementation and associated costs should be considered.
  3. Replication of your color environment for a recovery solution can cost four to five times more than your monochrome recovery solution. Your recovery budget must be adjusted.

Mail-Gard does indeed offer a full color recovery solution, and we have worked with several customers to onboard their color requirements. Having more than 18 years of recovery experience under our belt, developing backup solutions for full-color workflows has been an interesting, yet rewarding task. Each customer’s unique specifications have refined our process and helped us develop a plan for asking the right questions from day one in order to create a full-color recovery solution that will duplicate each customer’s environment as needed.

Full-color digital printing allows your message to reach your customers in a dynamic way. As you surely had challenges transforming your documents to a color world, be prepared for similar challenges when creating a recovery plan for your color documents. If a custom recovery plan for full-color documents is in your future, don’t hesitate to give us a call at 267-960-3119.
