It’s been an exciting week for the Mail-Gard® team as we wrap up one of the biggest events in the business continuity and disaster recovery industry. DRJ Fall World 2013 was held at the beautiful Hilton San Diego Bayfront, a brand new venue for the DRJ show. We always look forward to a successful DRJ conference in San Diego, and with southern California weather that can’t be beat, this year was no exception. As expected, attendance was strong and on par with recent years.
The major theme of DRJ Fall World was “Strategies for Resiliency and Compliance.” General sessions focused on enterprise communications during a crisis, leadership among risk professionals and policies affecting cyber security, among others. There were also several workshops and breakout sessions aimed at various business roles (managerial, technical, emergency response, etc.). Topics ranged from business continuity management roundtables and incident management to conducting a successful business continuity plan/disaster recovery plan exercise.
As for Mail-Gard, it was great to see our customers and prospects and meet new people looking for services to complete their continuity and recovery plans. Document management recovery was a topic of interest to many people who stopped by our booth. Most companies have a document management and scanning process in place, but few have a recovery plan for it. They were interested to hear about our recovery solution for this process. We also had many positive conversations about Electronic Postmarked Email and print-to-mail disaster recovery planning.
Despite our hard work, we managed to have some fun along the way. Mail-Gard sponsored the Association of Contingency Planners (ACP) 30th Anniversary Celebration Cruise. ACP is a non-profit association promoting business continuity fellowships at the local level. It was a beautiful night for a two-hour cruise (complete with beautiful sunset) around San Diego Harbor – celebrated with customers, prospects and fellow vendors.
Mail-Gard is looking forward to the next installment of DRJ’s semi-annual conference in April – Spring World 2014. We’ll be presenting our 4th Mock Disaster Exercise at the show. We’ll have more information to come, but we hope to see you there!
