The 2013 National Postal Forum is Around the Corner – Will We See You There?

It’s time to get your postal nerd on! The National Postal Forum (NPF) is coming up in only a couple weeks (March 17 – 20) at Moscone Center West in San Francisco.

This is the premier show for those of us in the mailing industry. It’s our opportunity to interact with senior U.S. Postal Service executives about what’s going on in the postal world – and boy do we have a lot to talk about this year! The NPF also provides a chance to network with industry peers, share ideas and renew friendships.

We’re so excited about the Forum that we’ve added a count-down clock to Postal Week on our home page. Watch the seconds tick away in anticipation and be sure to subscribe to SpeakingDIRECT to have our daily NPF blogs delivered to your inbox.


This year’s show features keynotes from Postmaster General Patrick Donahoe and Chief Marketing and Sales Officer Nagisa Manabe, as well as two duplicate sessions to discuss the recently announced 5-day mail / 6-day packages delivery schedule. In addition, there are sessions on the Postal Service’s digital strategy, a USPS technology update and an overview of USPS sustainability initiatives.

And don’t forget the Peer-to-Peer Roundtables on Tuesday afternoon, where you can discuss specific postal issues or initiatives with peers from the mailing industry. Unlike past years, you can select your topic when you arrive – no preregistration required.

Participating in the Mailpiece Design Professional course will make you the in-house mail expert for your company. We have had colleagues participate in this certification at past Forums, and they highly recommend it.

No matter how your business uses mail or what your role is in that business, there will be information that will help you manage your business and your mailing programs in the coming year.

Be Sure to Stop By Our Presentations

My colleague Bob Rosser and I will be presenting a session in the Business Intelligence track called “The Sixth W: How Full Service IMb Improves Direct Mail” on Sunday March 17 from 1:15 – 2:15. We’ll be discussing how the data available through Full Service can be harnessed to better manage cross-channel campaigns and add value to the mail channel.

Our teammates Debora Haskel and Mike Dietz will be presenting a session in the Design & Preparation track called “Creative Inspiration for Making Mail Irresistible” on Monday March 18 from 1:45 – 2:45 in Room 2002. They always have great ideas about how to make your direct mail stand out in the mailbox and get opened.
