The 2012 DMA Conference just kicked-off, and so far we’re having a blast. Our booth is in a perfect location, right in the middle of all the action and we’ve already had a chance to meet with many clients and prospects. Since we know it wasn’t possible for many of our readers to attend the event, we’ll do our best to bring the show to you. We plan to blog daily and share our impressions on a variety of topics surrounding the event.
We wanted to start with our thoughts on one of the most important aspects of any tradeshow…the venue. Mandalay Bay was a great choice for an event of this magnitude, being centrally located with immediate access to many of the best restaurants and entertainment on the Las Vegas Strip. Things have been extremely well organized, with the smoothest check-in process of all the DMA events I’ve attended. Plus, it’s Vegas! Everyone is in a good mood and enjoying plenty of fun and sun. It also doesn’t hurt that it’s been about 40 degrees warmer than back in Minnesota.
Although I don’t know the exact figures, attendance appears to be relatively the same as last year, with perhaps a few less exhibitors. Direct mail was one of the main themes of the show last year and it’s still getting plenty of attention. But the buzz this year is on cross-channel marketing and using alternative channels to complement direct mail and drive ROI.
As I mentioned, we plan to cover quite a bit about this year’s event. We’ll breakdown the keynote address, the feedback we’re getting on our new booth and branding and Debora Haskel’s, our vice president of marketing, presentation with Bill Garvin of Healthways on how we’ve helped them build loyalty while cutting costs. We’ll wrap it up on Thursday with a final recap of the event.
So please check back often to get the latest on the 2012 DMA Conference.
