A few months ago we announced a number of platform enhancements designed to expand services, reduce costs and provide greater postal benefits for our customers. These enhancements include the expansion of our Chanhassen campus by utilizing a 150,000 sq. ft. facility (adjacent to our current headquarters) as well as the installation of more than 60 pieces of high-speed direct mail printing equipment across our platform.
We’re pleased to report that our equipment installation process is right on schedule. Our Chanhassen lettershop has begun expanding into the new building and started live production in the new space on Aug. 21. The lettershop move will be completed over the next two weeks. We are also in the process of increasing staffing on all lettershop shifts to cover existing and new equipment to support current schedule demands.
Another part of our platform enhancements is the expansion of our second Mail-Gard® critical communications recovery center in Chanhassen, where we completed our first customer test on July 26. Everything went smoothly as twelve different jobs were printed and inserted while our customer viewed the operations from start to finish.
Mail-Gard’s primary facility will continue operations in Warminster, Pa., and they’ve been extremely busy with numerous tests and an influx of new customers.
While our current campus expansion is not yet complete, it will be ready for full-scale production in late September. Our customers will see greater speed and more options for their direct mail campaigns. And we’ll be able to produce roughly 385 million packages per month – a 30% increase in capacity.
