At IWCO Direct, we crave efficiency. In fact, one of our corporate values is Capability, which we define as “the combined resources of mind and machine, creativity and technology to address critical issues of quality, value, and timeliness.”
In order to be as efficient as possible and provide the most value to our customers, we recently began our journey to become a Lean organization. The first step was to use Value Stream Mapping (VSM) to study our entire production process – from the time raw materials arrived to when the direct mail left our plant. During the VSM process, our team created a map of our processes as it currently existed (known as a Current State Map) and used it to identify improvement opportunities. Based on these areas for improvement, the team drew a streamlined Future State Map that defined how we would like the process to work in the future.
Once our Value Stream Mapping was complete, it was time to test our ideas. We have some exciting results to share. To find out what we learned, you’ll have to check back for future Speaking Direct posts.
