The Instant Web Companies Purchases
Full Web Press with In-line Finishing
New Press will Cut Cycle Time, Increase Savings, Expand
Product Range and Accelerate
Product Delivery for Customers
Chanhassen, MN (June 4, 2002) The Instant Web Companies (IWCO),
a combination of printing, envelope conversion and mailing services companies,
has purchased a full web press with in-line finishing capabilities to
expand the companys growing list of services aimed at direct marketers.
The 6-unit Harris M-1000, scheduled for start-up in June, features a
state-of-the art finishing line with the latest in industry-leader Scheffer
systems including the Series III rotary cutter and TED table for precision
and speed. Four double-tiered plow stations provide format flexibility
with up to 18 plow folds.
We conducted exhaustive research to custom-design a Rolls Royce
press and finishing line, said Larry Garlick, IWCO, director of
operationsprinting. The register system, gearing, rotary cutter,
and die cutter are the best available and the closed-end mailer will provide
new formats that deliver time and production cost-savings to our clients.
In a tight market experiencing national plant closings and consolidations,
this purchase demonstrates IWCOs commitment to building our business
past its current capacity and capabilities, said Tom Wicka, executive
vice president-sales. More and more customers are seeking both traditional
package and inline formats within a specific campaign. Combined with our
commingling and logistics capabilities within our mailing platform, we
can now provide a suite of products and services unmatched in the industry.
Market research conducted by IWCO identified format flexibility and
speed to market as priorities for direct mail clients. In response to
these needs, IWCO designed the press to deliver product in three formats:
sheeted, roll-to-roll, or finished in-line. In-line finishing capabilities
include die-cutting, scratch-off, perfing, scoring, and personalization
as well as remoist, spine, spot, and wet pattern glue.
Our vertical solution consistently delivers both hard and soft
cost saving opportunities to clients, said Jim Andersen, IWCO president
and CEO. With the addition of this new equipment and its capabilities,
we can expand on those opportunities by providing a wider range of personalized
product formats with involvement devices that boost response. Whether
self-mailers or conventional packages, we can ensure value with the most
sophisticated proprietary mailing services and technologies in the industry.
IWCO, headquartered in Chanhassen, MN, has served the North American
printing and mailing market for over 30 years. IWCO provides integrated
printing, envelope and mailing services for direct marketers.
