Minnesota Legislative Leaders Visit IWCO Direct
to Applaud Job Creation Efforts
Chanhassen, MN (February 14, 2005) — Minnesota House of Representatives leaders recently visited IWCO Direct, a leader in integrated direct mail services, to congratulate the company on its contribution to the state’s economy by creating nearly 200 new jobs the past two years and to discuss what issues will most impact IWCO Direct’s future success. Among the delegation were Speaker of the House Steve Sviggum, House Majority Leader Erik Paulsen and Representative Joe Hoppe.
The legislators requested the meeting to personally thank the company for creating 180 jobs in Minnesota over the past 24 months, as well as to understand what issues must be addressed for Minnesota companies like IWCO Direct to remain competitive in the marketplace. The key issues discussed included transportation, education needs and healthcare reform. When exploring transportation issues, the key points included the availability of public transportation, ease of commute and transportation’s impact on recruiting and quality of life. In regard to education, the discussion centered on the importance of K-12 education, developing a skilled labor force, the availability of graphic arts training in high school and mentoring programs. The impact of healthcare services and rising costs were also addressed.
“We were excited about the session and look forward to working with IWCO Direct for insight regarding the issues that affect jobs, families and growth in Minnesota,” stated House Speaker Sviggum.
“It was a pleasure meeting with Representatives Sviggum, Paulsen and Hoppe. We appreciate the opportunity to discuss issues that impact our business, both now and looking forward,” said Jim Andersen, president and CEO of IWCO Direct. “It’s important for the public and private sectors to work together to ensure the long term financial health of our state’s economy.”
