This morning we announced we’re implementing the next phase of our strategic platform enhancements by expanding our Chanhassen campus with an eye to greater speed and more options for customers. As marketers are well aware, timing and relevance have become the most important factors to the success of a direct mail campaign. Our platform changes will increase our personalization capacity by approximately 35 percent, as well as provide customers with reduced cycle times and enhanced postal optimization.
New 150,000 Sq. Ft. Facility
A key element of the platform enhancements is the utilization of a 150,000 sq. ft. facility in Chanhassen, adjacent to our current campus. The facility will be fully functional by July and will house our second Mail-Gard critical communication recovery center and our Chanhassen direct mail lettershop. This additional space allows us to support future expansion opportunities for both Mail-Gard and our direct mail production business. We want to stress this is an additional Mail-Gard facility. Mail-Gard’s primary recovery center will remain in Warminster, Pa.
Equipment Installations Increase Capability & Capacity
As part of our platform enhancements, we just completed installation of a new Mitsubishi 3F16 sheet-fed press in Chanhassen. With the capability of producing 16,000 impressions per hour this Mitsubishi is extremely fast. It also adds aqueous coating to our print capabilities. We’re also bolstering our personalization capacity with 22 Océ 8750 digital web printers.
In addition, we’re also installing high-speed equipment across our platform. When we’re finished with installations, we will have added more than 60 pieces of equipment, which will increase our overall production capacity to approximately 385 million direct mail packages per month.
